Rannikot Fort The Great Wall of Sindh Location Jamshoro District, Sindh, Pakistan.
Rannikot is a historical Talpur fort near Sann, Jamshoro District, Sindh, Pakistan.[2] Ranikot Fort is also known as The Great Wall of Sindh and is believed to be the world's largest fort.[3][4] with a circumference of approximately 32 kilometres (20 mi). The fort's ramparts have been compared to the Great Wall of China.
The site was nominated in 1993 by the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO world heritage status, and has since been on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.[6] The fort is listed as a historical site under the Antiquities Act, 1975 and its subsequent amendments, and is provided protection.
The entire structure has been built with stone and Lime mortar, and was said to be reconstructed in the 1800’s after the last battlements of Ranikot. The fort is built in a zig-zag formation, with four entry gates, nestled amongst the rugged mountains of Kirthar National Park, the second largest national park in Pakistan, and only a short days drive from Karachi.
Taking in every essence of this magical place I was humbled by its magnificent structure and the surrounding area. Rich culture and history, impressive architectural and natural made structures. It’s an adventurers haven!
