How to Prepare Gender Studies

Section I: Introduction to Gender Studies Resources: • Book: "Gender Trouble" by Judith Butler • Online Resource: Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy - "Feminist Perspectives on Sex and Gender" Questions: 1.  What is the difference between Gender Studies and Women's Studies? 2.  Discuss the multi-disciplinary nature of Gender Studies. 3.  Explain the autonomy vs. integration debate in Gender Studies. 4.  What is the current status of Gender Studies in Pak? Section II: Social Construction of Gender Resources: • Book: "Gender and the Social Construction of Illness" by Judith Lorber • Online Resource: TED Talk - "The Social Construction of Gender" by Judith Butler Questions: 1.  How does society construct gender roles and identities? 2.  What is the significance of the queer theory in challenging traditional notions of "Sex"? 3.  Discuss the debate regarding whether "Sex" is socially determined. 4.  Explain the concepts of ma

Power Supplies

A  power supply unit is a source of either a Constant Current or Constant Voltage irrespective of the load resistance. Power sources can be classified as either varying or non-varying, i-e AC or DC. AC stands for Alternating Current whereas DC stands for Direct current. Graphically speaking, the Alternating currents are those that vary in some periodic fashion electrically and reverse polarity several times. The voltage which causes an Alternating Current is called AC voltage. The figure below shows the wave shape of an alternating power source.

Issues to be considered before and after installation of electrical transmission line

 •            Well constructing a new transmission system is always a difficult task . For constructing or or extension of new transmission system we need to the factors and issues that would riase in the installation and after it as well. We need to consider two factors before installation technical and economical . • The technical include the power to be transmitted through the proposed line , length of the line. • Nature of transmission either it is single circuit or double circuit. • Voltage at which tower to be transmitted , nature of route from which the line will run . Choosing the conductor material we consider weather ,temperature ,area and other environmental aspects. The nature of conductor play an important role in establishing a transmission line. • The economic aspects include the loss per unit length , cost of auxilliaries .     Factors that are considered After Installation of Electrical power transmission system • Choice of system voltage :           System voltage mos

What is vector group of transformer?

Vector Group of Transformers                     • A vector group is the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) method of categorizing the high voltage (HV) windings and low voltage (LV) winding configurations of three-phase transformers.                      • Vector group is a connection of primary winding , secondary winding and an electrical angle difference .                      • The vector group designation indicates the windings configurations and the difference in phase angle between them. The three phase transformer windings can be connected several ways. Based on the windings’ connection, the vector group of the transformer is determined. •              The transformer vector group is indicated on the Name Plate of transformer by the manufacturer. The vector group indicates the phase difference between the primary and secondary sides, introduced due to that particular configuration of transformer windings connection. • The Determination of vector group of transform

What is Capacitor?

Capacitor is a basic electrical component that stores charge. It is constructed of two parallel conductive plates separated by insulating material called dielectric.Connecting leads are attached to parallel plates.                Lets consider initially capacitor is in uncharged (Neutral) state. In neutral state both plates of a capacitor have an equal number of free electrons.Electrons are removed from plate A and equal number of electrons are deposited on plate B. Plate A becomes positive and Plate B becomes negative. During charging, no electrons flow through dielectric because its an insulator,The movement of electrons is ceased when voltage across the capacitor equals to source voltage.  Now if capacitor is disconnected from source, it retains charge and still it has voltage across its terminals.Charged capacitor acts as a temporary battery.                   Amount of charge stored is directly proportional to applied voltage.Capacitance is the measure of capacitors abi

RANNI KOT

Rannikot Fort  The Great Wall of Sindh Location Jamshoro District, Sindh, Pakistan.                 Rannikot is a historical Talpur fort near Sann, Jamshoro District, Sindh, Pakistan.[2] Ranikot Fort is also known as The Great Wall of Sindh and is believed to be the world's largest fort.[3][4] with a circumference of approximately 32 kilometres (20 mi). The fort's ramparts have been compared to the Great Wall of China.                   The site was nominated in 1993 by the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO world heritage status, and has since been on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.[6] The fort is listed as a historical site under the Antiquities Act, 1975 and its subsequent amendments, and is provided protection.                  The entire structure has been built with stone and Lime mortar, and was said to be reconstructed in the 1800’s after the last battlements of Ranikot. The fort is built in a zig-zag formation, with four entry gates, nestled am

Mansa Musa

Mansa Musa born in 1280 a Muslim  , African ruler who ruled the ancient Malian Empire in 1312 . Mansa means Sultan in native language of Mandinka . Mansa Inherited and expanded the Malian Empire annexing 24 Cities . The land in the empire had a lot of gold that made the empire too much wealthier,  which back then became the world's currency . Mansa Musa controlled the half of gold of the world in 14th century according to the British museum.  To put in perspective that means he was worth a estimated 400 Billion dollars . Twice as much as Jeff Bezos 200 billion boggles the mind world .                        And under the rule of Musa, the prosperous empire grew to span a sizeable portion of West Africa, from the Atlantic coast to the inland trading hub of Timbuktu and parts of the Sahara Desert. As the territory grew while Musa was on the throne, so did the economic standing of its citizens. It wasn't until 1324 Musa set off for Mecca for pilgrimage with M
